Erosion

Created for the “God Is…..” Chaiya Arts Awards at the OXO Tower Gallery in London in 2021, each of the forty four pebble-like lachrymatories in this work represents a betrayal of our natural heritage. The work received a Judges’ award, and now sits in a private collection in Leigh-on-Sea.

These lachrymatories are suspended from an antique rack by hemp cord. Several raku glazes have been formulated and both smoke and saggar-firing techniques have been employed to recreate the colours, patterns and textures of pebbles found along the seashore. Rusted nails and other beach finds have been used as stoppers.
